Langholm Moor was a renowned grouse moor of over 20,000 acres (8,100 hectares), owned by the Duke of Buccleuch as part of his Langholm area landholdings. He would take guests shooting there while visiting Langholm Lodge, where he stayed with his family each summer.
Below is the Duke’s Rolls Royce ‘shooting brake’ (1910 Rolls-Royce 40/50-HP Silver Ghost). Gun boxes sat over the rear mudguards and game could be transported on the roof.

The radiator mascot was a stag’s head (the now well-known Rolls Royce ‘Spirit of Ecstasy’ mascot was not introduced until 1911).

Much of Langholm Moor was transferred to the Tarras Valley Nature Reserve in community buyouts in 2021 and 2022.
