The Minutes for October 1927 also record that “Mr. Scott brought before the meeting the fact that Miss Robertson had completed 25 years of service as a matron.” In recognition of this fact she was presented with a roll-top desk in December: ” In making the presentation Mr. Bell said that Miss Robertson had discharged her duties during the long period of 25 years with entire satisfaction not only to the Trustees but also to the Medical practitioners and the patients themselves and they all greatly appreciated the efficient manner in which she managed the Hospital. The desk was only a small mark of their appreciation of her services and he trusted that she would long be spared to use it and carry on her work in the Hospital.” Only three months later she was obliged to resign (as from 1st June) because of family circumstances.
